Do you believe in global warming? How long will the world's petroleum resources last? Are there acceptable alternatives? This community provides a science background that enables you to understand and respond to these questions. Students in this community analyze examples of energy usage and environmental problems, investigate the development of new materials, and translate science into practical and beneficial outcomes. The community includes both hands-on experiments and field trips to local industries.
The courses in this community are MTE 155, which includes a lab and meets Natural Science general education requirements, Freshman Composition (English 101 or 103), and the one-hour integrative seminar (FLC 101).
The director of the community is Garry Warren, Professor of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering.
