The University of Alabama

Fundamentals of Finance

This Freshman Learning Community looks at the many ways that the financial economy serves the interests of many, many participants. Our objective is to examine how the financial economy changes throughout history, connecting like a clutch the business needs on the one hand with household wants on the other hand, directed by governments responding to societal realities. Learn how the financial economy is driven by an invisible hand and decide whether it's a blind invisible beast or a sensitive and insightful potential provider.

The courses will be taught by Dr. Tom Downs, Assistant Professor of Economics, Finance and Legal Studies. This FLC is linked with English 101, Economics 110, Psychology 101, GBA 145, and Math.
