Folk and Community Arts

Tuscaloosa is the center of a rich tradition in folk art. This freshman learning community will explore the concept of folk art, its relationship to other forms of art, and enjoy first-hand experience with folk art at the Kentuck Festival.

The courses include New 212, a course on creativity; Freshman Composition (English 101 or 103), and the one-hour integrative seminar (FLC 101).

The directors are Dr. Jim Hall, director of New College, and Ms. Sara Ann Gibson, director of the Kentuck Festival.
