The University of Alabama

Music, Music, Music

This Freshman Learning Community is for students who are interested in music and its relationship to culture and everyday life. We will explore music and sound in society and develop an understanding for what is defined as music around the globe. Whether you are interested in the arts, accounting, engineering, undecided, or want to expand your iTunes playlists, this FLC is for you.

The courses involved in this community are Creativity, NEW 212; MUS 121, Introduction to Listening, which carries fine arts core credit; Freshman Composition, either EN 101 or 103; and the FLC 101, so it fits with all programs of study.

The director of this community is Jennifer Caputo who is a new resident in Tuscaloosa, a percussionist, and an ethnomusicologist.
