The University of Alabama

Pre-Health and Chemistry

Students who are planning health careers in medicine, dentistry, pharmacy and those planning to pursue majors in chemistry, biology, or engineering should consider this FLC. Chemistry is at the core of many modern scientific and technological advances, including those related to health care. Not only will you meet others with similar interests, you will find this a survival guide for the first semester. FLCs are great ways to build study groups and develop closer ties to your professors. Students in this freshman learning community possess a strong mathematics and science background.

The courses for this FLC are General Chemistry I (CH 101 which includes a lab) or Honors General Chemistry (CH 117 which also includes a lab), Freshman Composition (English 101 or 103), and the one-hour integrative seminar (FLC 101).

The director of the learning community is Dr. John Vincent, Professor of Chemistry.
