The University of Alabama

Pre-Law

Many UA students plan to attend law school and go on to practice law. This freshman learning community is a good place to begin that plan. The courses that are part of this community are good "pre-law" preparation regardless of your particular academic interest. The one credit hour FLC 101 gives an opportunity to meet practicing attorneys, sit in on law school classes, discuss various legal issues, learn more about law school admission, and become involved in the University's Pre-Law Student Organization.

The courses that are included in this freshman learning community are Introduction to American Government (PSC 101), Political Philosophy (PHL 220), and Freshman Composition (English 101 or 103). The community also includes the one-hour freshman learning community integrative seminar (FLC 101).

The director of the Pre-Law freshman learning community is Prof. Joe Smith of the Department of Political Science.
