This Freshman Learning Community uses religion as the way to study the broad sweep of western civilization from the earliest Mesopotamian civilizations through the medieval period. How do we learn more about a people from their religion? How does religion help us understand the changes that occur over time and between places? Study history from a different perspective and see what you think.
The courses are Western Civilization I (HY 101), Introduction to Religious Studies (REL 100), Freshman Composition, and the one-hour integrative seminar (FLC 101).
The directors are Prof. James Mixson of the Department of History and Dr. Steven Ramey of the Department of Religious Studies, both in the College of Arts and Sciences.
